“For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel.” Ezra 7:10
My wife and I have made it a priority to eat dinner together at the table as a family. The meal gets prepared, we pray and partake. Then amazing things happen at that table. We share about our day, the good, the bad and even the ugly. We laugh, share stories, we get advice or talk about spiritual things. It is always so refreshing when we walk away from the table.
I think Ezra made it a priority to sit at the table of the Lord. He prepared himself for time with the Lord. He took time to seek God’s presence and inquire of God’s word. It was a time to laugh, cry, to share the good, the bad, and the ugly. It was a time to get wisdom from above so that he could walk circumspectly.
When he walked away from the table he was refreshed by the watering of the word so that he was ready to share it with others. He would be ready in season and out to give an answer for the hope that was in him.
Each of us is called to prepare a table before the Lord, preparing ourselves to receive from the Lord, so that we can speak on behalf of the Lord.
