Peace of the City

“Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Old men and old women shall again sit In the streets of Jerusalem, each one with his staff in his hand because of great age. The streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.’”Zechariah 8:4-5

Zechariah was a contemporary of Nehemiah. He understood the power of vision and the prophet was painting a picture of what the future could look like when God's people walk in His ways. We also need this hope today!

We live in a time of great fear, as we hear about violent shootings all across our nation, from school campuses to churches to the workplace. Nothing can be more unsettling than a fearful spirit.

Zechariah wanted to lift our spirits by presenting a prophetic picture of what things should and will look like. The old and young will find peace in the new Jerusalem. The seniors will have authority and the children will play in peace. There is a day coming of peace and joy. We look forward to this and live in expectant hope for this time!
